The Beaverton Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to invite you to our 2024 Fall Concert, where we will be joined by internationally acclaimed violinist Kunito Nishitani, also known as Kuni. This year, we are honored to present one of the most iconic works in the violin repertoire, the Brahms Violin Concerto. This performance will mark Kuni’s seventh collaboration with the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra, solidifying a musical partnership that has been flourishing for over two decades.
Kuni Nishitani’s long-standing relationship with the BSO began in 2002, and he has since performed a variety of violin concertos with us, including those by Mendelssohn, Bruch, Glazunov, Lalo, Khachaturian, and Saint-Saëns. Each of these performances has been a unique and unforgettable journey, but this year’s Brahms Violin Concerto will stand out not only for its grandiosity and emotional depth but also for the incredible synergy between Kuni and the orchestra.
This concert will also be a milestone for the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra as we welcome our new Music Director, Maestro Pierre-Alain Chevalier. Pierre, a conductor known for his dynamic interpretations and profound musical insight, brings a fresh perspective to the BSO. Having already worked with Kuni in early online rehearsals from across the globe, Pierre has shown a keen understanding of the Brahms Violin Concerto, ensuring that the upcoming performance will be both exhilarating and deeply moving.
Reflecting on his journey with the BSO, Kuni shared, “Performing with the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra has been instrumental in my growth as a musician. Since our first collaboration in 2002, the BSO has given me the invaluable opportunity to explore a wide range of concertos, each contributing significantly to my artistic development. I am truly grateful to the orchestra for supporting me throughout these years, and I am especially excited to perform Brahms’ monumental concerto with them.”
Kuni also expressed his excitement for working with Maestro Chevalier: “Pierre’s guidance during our online rehearsals has been insightful and inspiring. His leadership promises to bring a new level of excellence to the BSO, and I’m eager to be a part of his first season with the orchestra. The combination of Brahms’ masterful concerto, Pierre’s direction, and the orchestra’s commitment will make for an unforgettable evening.”
